...Me! Me!! ME!!!

I'm Prodhi...you can call me Prod.
I'm a YA reader/reviewer/ other than that, I'm a nutcase gone awry. Yes, I'm insane so to speak:) I'd say I'm a girl next door, but I'm much better off without a Pinocchio nose, thank you very much. I'm a pretty fun chica, I guess. I also realize that this About Me section doesn't do the three dimensions of my character justice. Or four. Or five. Or six. Oh shooh!

...Contact moi, Lovelies.

Bloggers and readers, if you have anything to say to me, here: prodhi@live.com. YA authors who would like me to review their books, I'll be more than honoured. Contact me at the same address.

    Under The Radar Challenge 2009
    Something's been bothering me recently.
    A lot.
Did you, like me, notice a set pattern of the hype amongst young adult readers surrounding only a few specific books or authors?
Before you get aggressive, I have nothing against these authors or books. In fact, I frankly love reading any good book by any author. What I'm trying to say is that, I think there are a lot of YA authors out there who don't get the attention they deserve--they are overshadowed by others because they couldn't snag a deal with one of the biggest publishing houses out there or their story did not conform to the trend at that point of time. Or maybe it was plain bad luck.
I didn't think the disparity was always because the book didn't stand up to standards--no. I've read quite a few books lately written by understated authors which were some of the best I've ever read.
So, I'm taking a stand. I'm not telling you to stop reading books that are heavily publicized--no way. I'm telling you to give these understated authors/books/pub houses a chance. You never know what you're going to get in return; maybe words that you won't forget in a lifetime.
In light of all that I've said now, I'd like to initiate the Under the Radar movement. The movement is like this:
    For Readers:
I will read at least one book by an understated YA author per month.
I will tell my friends about this, and also recommend the ones that I liked.
I will post the button below on my website/blog.
    For Book Bloggers:
I will read at least one book by an understated YA author every month.
If like any, I will recommend it to my friends.
I will review the book I've read.
I will post the button below on my blog/website.
    For Authors:
I will not give up writing.
I will not conform to a particular style or story type just because it sells.

Authors, if you feel like you are being deprived of the attention you deserve, feel free to drop me an email. Readers and bloggers, please don't hesitate to tell me if you come across an author you felt should get more readers.

I think it's a great idea Prod! A lot of books deserve the love they aren't receiving.
I have to admitt that i don't read THAT many YA books though. But i'll try and help, if only by reading your reviews and recommendations =)

Thank you so much Patt! I really appreciate it--just the smallest nudge to people to notice these author counts:)

Totally awesome challenge! I think I could do 1 a month, but I don't know that I get my hands on that many under the radar books that I could commit to 3/month. I will definitely keep my eye out though and participate to the fullest extent that I can. :o) AWESOME idea!!
