...Me! Me!! ME!!!

I'm Prodhi...you can call me Prod.
I'm a YA reader/reviewer/ other than that, I'm a nutcase gone awry. Yes, I'm insane so to speak:) I'd say I'm a girl next door, but I'm much better off without a Pinocchio nose, thank you very much. I'm a pretty fun chica, I guess. I also realize that this About Me section doesn't do the three dimensions of my character justice. Or four. Or five. Or six. Oh shooh!

Movie Monday at Write for a Reader
Write for a Reader is hosting a gothic movie review club here: http://writeforareader.blogspot.com/2009/08/movie-monday_17.html in context of the release of Michelle Zink's Prophecy of the Sisters. The author's blog is here: http://michellezinkbooks.wordpress.com/ and the beautastic cover is here:

Here's my review of Edward Scissorhands:
I love Johnny Depp. And I love Winona Ryder.
That being said, I will make a difficult attempt at remaining completely impartial in my review. But even then, the movie was so beautifully crafted that I won't need to.
The movie has a very gothic feel to it but it also has a beating heart and flesh. Edward's character is detly portrayed by Johnny Depp, reaching out to viewers' hearts with his scissor hands. He is a social pariah, segregated because of his difference, and you cannot help but sympathize with him. He covets the few that love him, among which is Ryder's character, Kim. Edward is constantly being thrown back and forth from freak status to stardom. He is misunderstood--someone you would feel sorry for.
I loved how the plotline moved smoothly despite the amount of substance it carried. It didn't trudge or rush. What Tim Burton has here is a masterpiece, an artistic spin-off of Shelley's Frankenstein. Four point seven five out of five from me, definitely recommended.

Edward Scissorhands is one of my most favorite movies ever.

[overshare alert!] The first time I ever watched it (when I was a kid) I cried so hard that I threw up. :x

I still cry every time I watch it, but I try to keep the barfing to a minimum.
